About us

CENTRE FOR DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH  (CDER) is an Applied Economics and Interdisciplinary Research Institute founded by Green India Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The trustees and governing body members had the vision to establish CDER to meet the basic objectives by undertaking field oriented empirical research. The governing body members are having vast experience for more than 35 years in research, teaching and consultancy in higher educational institutions and international organisations.

Initially the institute has been undertaking awareness
programmes about socially, economically and
environmentally significant issues. Later on it
has expanded its activities towards conducting
research, training and extension programmes on
the thrust areas.

Objectives

CDER as a research institute is aimed to undertake the following assignment with experienced, well
trained and competent research personnel in the specified areas of research. It is also aimed to
undertake consultancy research work assigned by the government departments and also
under the scheme of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) etc.

  • To undertake research and surveys on developmental issues with special reference to socio-economic and agro-rural aspects.
  • To undertake research studies and surveys on Environmental issues and management and suggesting possible remedies for policy implications.
  • To organise conferences, workshops and seminars on General Economic Aspects and Environmental issues.
  • To coordinate with the state and central government in implementing the important programmes and polices aiming for the welfare of the society.
  • To conduct training programmes and short term courses.
  • Provide a helping hand for the socially and econmically backward section of the society for their betterment

Achievement of Sustainable Economic Development has become a big challenge to the world economies especially for India. Since the development goals are taking structural transformations and expansion in the recent past due to the priorities, needs and changes of the Social and Economic behaviour of the people. Hence, it is the need of the hour to explore and plan for new opportunites and solutions for Socio-Economic and Environmental Issues and Challenges. Hence, as a small gesture, the CDER is founded and aimed to assist and support the Central and State Government plans and also to support organisations formed for improving the Social Wellfare.
